This spring it was my pleasure to work with Christine Mockett, Serguie Bouilenko and the clients of Rochester Heights Community House. Using a method created by Christine our students created a variety of characters by wrapping and bundling scraps of recycled fabric onto wooden dowels and wire armatures before finally coating the sculptures with a layer of fabric hardener. The "Who We Are " project, funded by a grant from the Ontario Arts Council, was an opportunity for a group of individuals in the community without usual access to art supplies or space to work to express themselves and learn some skills in sculpture and painting.
This session saw quite an array of figures including a Poppy the pink troll by Clowie, a member of the Ottawa Senators Hockey Team by Patricia, a cute brown cat by Lisa and a life sized dog by Juan.
